Following Closure of LCD TV Production Lines

Samsung Display's Asan campus

About 200 employees of Samsung Display will be transferred to Samsung Electronics' semiconductor business division (DS Division).

"We are currently moving employees who want to be transferred, taking into account demand for human resources at the two companies," a Samsung Display official said on Aug. 13. "Although it is difficult to disclose the number of employees who will be reassigned, this transfer is part of our normal work process."

The redeployment was made at the request of Samsung Electronics' DS Division, which is in need of more human resources due to investment in micro-fabrication processes on its campus in Pyeongtaek. As a result, Samsung Display received applications from all of its business divisions and selected suitable personnel through interviews.

Samsung Display’s move to adjust its workforce through reassignment to sister companies came after it announced in March that it will discontinue LCD TV panel production at the end of this year. It is necessary to downsize its relevant sales and marketing position parts along with the closing of the LCD TV panel production lines. The company has already transferred some of its officials to Samsung Biologics and Samsung SDI.
