The Samsung Strategic Innovation Center (SSIC) of the Device Solution (DS) Division of Samsung Electronics held the Voice of the Body event on May 28 (local time) at the SF Jazz Center in San Francisco and made its Life Care Vision public.

The event, held under the slogan of Establishment of aDigital Health Ecosystem, was attended by more than 400 scholars, entrepreneurs, and local journalists. The Samsung Digital Health unveiled there is a total platform helping individuals keep track of their health and develop better life habits. The platform is characterized by detecting human body signals with sensors and collecting and analyzing data based on the signals by both hardware and software means.

Samsung Electronics demonstrated the operation of the platform with specific devices as well. They introduced the Simband as a wrist band hardware platform and the Samsung Architecture for Multimodal Interactions (SAMI) as a software platform. The Simband comes with advanced biosensors to detect various bio-signals such as heart rate, blood pressure, and respiration in real time.

The collected data is transmitted to a cloud system via an Internet of Things (IoT) network and is analyzed with different algorithms to produce other types of information of value by the SAMI.

Samsung Electronics is planning to hold the first SAMI Developers Conference in the fourth quarter of this year and unveil beta versions of the application programming interface (API) and software developer kit (SDK) within this year. The alpha versions of the Simband and SAMI have already been provided for selected partners for development purposes. Samsung’s digital health products are expected to be commercially available within a couple of years.
