In addition, the two companies are planning to establish “Qook & Show Zone” in nation-wide GS Caltex gas stations starting July in order to allow customers unlimited use of wireless Internet services.

Moreover, the two partners plan to cooperate with each other to develop new wireless data services for gas stations. As for smart grid business, the two partners are planning to jointly participate in a consortium on “Jeju Island’s Smart Grid Complex” driven by the Ministry of Knowledge and Economy.

KT CEO Lee Seok-chae said that KT and GS Caltex will introduce new convergence products to customers. In addition, GS Caltex CEO, Heo Dong-soo said that the partnership would create a brand new paradigm, bridging energy and communications. He added that the strategic alliance with KT would hopefully serve as an opportunity to escalate the status of the nation’s energy industry.

Meanwhile, GS Caltex, on May 9, held a “painting contest for green environment” at 88 Playground at Seoul Olympic Park and Haneul Square, involving 20,000 people, including 6,000 elementary students and their parents.
