Competing with Samsung and Apple

Competition is expected to heat up in the domestic wireless earphone market as LG Electronics is going to release “Tone Free” earphone in June.

The market is currently dominated by Samsung Electronics and Apple.

Tone Free (model name: HBS-TFN6) is loaded with the signal processing technology and tuning technology of Meridian Audio, a luxury audio company. It offers a high level of immersion as it comes in a kernel type that completely blocks the earholes. It comes in two colors — black and white. The earphone storage case has a wireless charging function and a “UVnano” function that sterilizes harmful bacteria such as E. coli 99.9 percent.

Samsung Electronics and Apple released the “Galaxy Buzz Plus” and “AirPod Pro” in March this year and October 2019, respectively. They are upgraded versions of the Galaxy Buzz and AirPods. Both companies improved battery performances of the new products compared to their previous models.

Apple even added a noise-cancelling function to AirPods Pro. This function reduces external noises by generating opposite waveforms. Even during a noise cut-off, a function lets AirPods users hear external noises when users want to.

Industry insiders predict that noise cancelling will become more common among code-free products that will come out in the future. Samsung Electronics had considered adding noise cancelling to its Galaxy Buzz Plus, but did not as it wanted to focus on upgrading sound quality. However, there is a big possibility that it will be included in the next model. LG Electronics is also considering releasing an upgraded product with a noise-cancelling function in the second half of 2020.
