SsangYong Motor Co. announced on April 1 that the company sold a total of 9,345 units in March 2020 -- 6,860 units in domestic sales and 2,485 in exports.

SsangYong’s March sales dropped 31.2 percent over the same month last year due to the depressed real economy and worsening market conditions due to the COVID-19 outbreak. However, compared to the previous month, its sales showed a recovery with an increase of 30.9 percent thanks to reduced production risk by solving the supply issue of Chinese auto parts.

Its domestic sales recovered by 34.5 percent month-on-month thanks to the government’s individual sales tax cut and the company’s effective sales promotions including ‘Respect Korea’ campaign to offer a discount coupon for consumers to get full tax benefits and a 10 year / 100,000 Km warranty – the best and longest warranty in the domestic market.

SsangYong’s March exports also recorded an increase of 21.8 percent from the previous month by selling the Korando M/T model in the European market despite depressed global auto market.

The company accelerated local sales of the Korando in the European market by attending the Brussels Motor Show 2020 and Vienna Auto Show 2020 at the beginning of this year, and strengthened the Central and South American market by holding a launch event of the Korando in Peru.

SsangYong Motor stressed that the company saw a recovery in March based on various sales promotions despite the worsening market condition due to the spread of the novel coronavirus, and will make an effort to increase sales by strengthening the marketability of its flagship models such as adding a high-tech connected car service this year.
