The Ministry of Justice is considering deporting a British male in his 30s who stayed in four cities without wearing a mask despite his COVID-19 symptoms. The ministry explained that he entered South Korea with symptoms on March 20 and ignored the South Korean government’s self-quarantine advice.

He arrived at the Incheon International Airport from Thailand and was examined at the airport. Then, he took a bus to Yongin City and went to his home in Suwon City. He started coughing on March 14 and yet belatedly visited a clinic on March 23. His infection was confirmed the next day after he visited multiple stores.

On March 28, the Suwon Immigration Office requested the disaster control center of Suwon City to send information related to him. The city is going to hold him responsible. Any foreigner threatening the public safety by ignoring the quarantine authorities’ advice can be deported according to Articles 11 and 46 of the Immigration Act.
