Samsung Electronics Ranked 6th

Huawei has been selected as the company that contributed to establishing 5G standardization most significantly. Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics came in sixth and 11th, respectively.

Market research firm Strategic Analytics (SA) announced on March 26 that Huawei ranked first with 9.6 out of 10 in its analysis of 13 companies’ contributions to 5G standardization at the 3GPP (Mobile Communication Standardization Technology Cooperation Organization).

The evaluation was carried out based on the number of 5G paper submissions, the number of submitted papers approved by the Wireless Technology Standards Group (TSG) and Working Group (WG), and experience in playing the roles of the TSG or WG chairman and experience in playing the roles of a TSG or WG 5G Investigation Committee member. Huawei scored a perfect 10 out of three of the five categories and 9.6 points on average.

Following Huawei, telecommunications equipment vendors Ericsson (8.2 points) and Nokia (6.8 points) ranked second and third. Samsung Electronics ranked 6th with an average 3.5 points, while LG Electronics 11th with an average 2.2 points.
