Short Selling Banned for Six Months

The Financial Services Commission announced on March 13 that short selling of KOSPI, KOSDAQ and KONEX stocks will be banned from March 16 to Sept. 15 this year.

The commission also announced that listed companies will be subject to an extended limit of share buyback during the same period.

In addition, the commission decided to exempt securities companies from the duty of maintaining a loan guarantee ratio during the same period in order to suppress excessive covering.
