SK Holdings C&C has won the Global Vitality Service Application Development and Operation project from South Africa’s leading financial company Discovery.

SK Holdings C&C announced on Oct. 29 that it has won the Global Vitality Service Application Development and Operation project from South Africa’s leading financial company Discovery.

Under this agreement, SK Holdings C&C will develop core applications of the Vitality Platform used in Korea, Germany, Japan, and Pakistan and integrate them into a cloud environment. To this end, it has decided to introduce a microservices architecture (MSA) to facilitate the addition, modification, development and testing of various applications for the Vitality System without a service interruption.


The Vitality Platform is the global No. 1 health and wellness service operating in 19 countries around the world including South Africa, the United States, Australia, Italy, Singapore and Korea. Users earn points according to the number of steps they take each day. With the points, they can enjoy such benefits as insurance premium discounts, free coffee, and discounts of mobile service charges.

In Korea, the Vitality Platform has become famous as it has powered AIA Vitality X T Health Habit launched by AIA Life, SK Telecom, and SK Holdings C&C in August of last year and used by more than 1.3 million people these days.

SK Holdings C&C has cooperated with Discovery, taking the initiative in the development and operation of a personalized personal health care platform based on big data on Koreans’ lifestyles and consumption patterns and the expansion of partners.

SK Holdings C&C, as a digital strategy development partner of Discovery, is planning to expand its Vitality Platform to all of the 19 countries including the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia which introduced the Vitality Service.

The platform will also be open to all partners including insurance companies, hospitals, health food stores, airlines, and hotels that have participated in the Vitality Ecosystem.
