Partnership to Develop Self-driving Services

LG Uplus will work with Sejong Special Self-Governing City to accelerate commercialization of autonomous vehicles.

LG Uplus announced on Aug. 29 that it will work with Sejong Special Self-Governing City to accelerate commercialization of autonomous vehicle services and encourage investment in technology development.

The two organizations signed an MOU to activate autonomous driving services. They will cooperate in carrying out projects to verify new technologies.

The two agencies will select a 5G self-driving shuttle test zone in October and put support equipment in place to test services.

They aim to introduce a safe autonomous shuttle in Sejong City by June next year based on three key elements -- an autonomous driving platform featuring a dynamic precision map and high-precision positioning, a 5G network that exchanges information with autonomous cars in real time, and big data technology that analyzes and predicts operation services and data.
