At the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2014, a variety of manufacturers are exhibiting new smart watches, including Samsung Electronics, Sony and Huawei. Samsung displayed Tizen OS-based watches in order to take the initiative in the market. Specifically, it unveiled two models of the Samsung Gear 2 and the Samsung Gear Fit, which focuses on healthcare functions, on Feb. 24 (local time).

The Korean manufacturer is planning to cement its leading position in the market by means of the Galaxy Gear, Samsung Gear 2, Samsung Gear 2 Neo, and Samsung Gear Fit. The last one is considered to be a companion product that is linked to the Galaxy smartphone for better utilization. At the same time, it is expected to add convenience to the users’ daily lives by providing healthcare assistance.

The Samsung Gear Fit comes with a curved, 1.84-inch Super AM OLED display panel. It can remain in close contact with the wrist of a user and the strap can be replaced so that the watch can be a fashion item on its own.

The Samsung Gear 2 is likely to be priced at US$300, similar to that of the Galaxy Gear. The Samsung Gear 2 Neo and Samsung Gear Fit are predicted to be available at US$250 and US$200, respectively.
