Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM) said on April 24 that it would expand cooperation with Russian shipping company FESCO.

HMM has run the China Russia North Service (CRN) which connects major ports of China, Korea and Russia in cooperation with two companies, FESCO and CMA-CGM.

With the expansion of cooperation with FESCO, the existing CRN service will be reorganized and two new services –- the Korea Russia Service 2 (KR2) and the Korea Russia Service (KRS) -- will be added to directly connect Busan and Russia.

HMM will launch a new 1,000 TEU container ship on the KR2 route, which directly connects Busan and Vostochny of Russia, beginning on May 11.

In addition, FESCO will start a new 1,200 TEU container ship service on the KRS route between Busan and Vladivostok on May 14.

The current China Russia North Service (CRN) will be changed to pass Qingdao, Shanghai, Ningbo and Vladivostok beginning on May 14.

"We will be able to provide faster and more stable services by expanding cooperation with FESCO," an HMM official said. “Based on this, we will further strengthen our position in the Russian market."
