Shinhan Selected for 7th Consecutive Year

Shinhan Financial Group has been named among the Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations for seven years in a row.

Shinhan Financial Group said that it was named among the 2019 Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations. The group has made it to the top 100 list for seven years in a row.

The world's most sustainable company list was announced at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, on Jan. 22. In particular, the group placed 9th this year, the highest ranking it has ever reached on the list since its inclusion in the list. It is also the highest ranking that an Asian company has ever reached.

The financial group said its selection as one of the most sustainable company in the world, along with global leading financial groups, such as BNP Paribas, ING Group, Bank of America and Banco do Brasil S.A., illustrates its competence in sustainability management.

Since Shinhan Financial Group has started releasing a corporate social responsibility (CSR) report from 2005, it has operated a CSR committee under the board of directors, established the 2020 CSR strategy and participated in global initiatives, taking the lead in CSR management.

The Global 100 Index is a ranking of the world's most sustainable corporations. The list has been compiled by Canada-based media and investment advisory firm Corporate Knights since 2005. The latest iteration of the index is announced at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, each year. Corporate Knights examines top companies in terms of market capitalization around the world and selects the top 100 companies based on 21 key performance indicators covering resource and financial management and leadership diversity every year.
