Smart Refrigerator Based on IoT, AI

Models introduce the 2019 edition of the Samsung Family Hub refrigerator ahead of the opening of CES 2019, the world's largest electronics exhibition in Las Vegas which will kick off on Jan. 8 (local time).

Samsung Electronics will take the wraps off the 2019 edition of the Family Hub refrigerator at CES 2019 that will run in Las Vegas for four days from Jan. 8 (local time).

The product is the home electronics industry’s first refrigerator incorporating the Internet of Things (IoT) and artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

This year's edition of the Family Hub refrigerator runs on "New Bixby,"  an AI platform that was unveiled at the Samsung Developer Conference in November of last year. New Bixby is capable of not only speech recognition but offers other AI functions. It improve the refrigerator’s natural language processing ability. Consumers can use the refrigerator easily as if they were talking with it. The product provides customized information by learning consumers’ preferences and usage patterns on its own.

Consumers can even easily access online services not provided by separate applications in the product through the Bixby platform.

The "Home AI" function of the Family Hub refrigerator provides visual information about users’ questions through a large touch screen. Samsung Electronics explained that Home AI is much more intuitive than answering with voices only. If you ask what the weather is like today, the product offers a graph of the weather and images by time zones along with voices. If you search for nearby restaurants, the product will show you a restaurant list, restaurant images, and ratings on the screen.
