Hyundai Motor unveiled the Palisade, a new large flagship sports utility vehicle (SUV), for the first time at the 2018 L.A. Auto Show at the Los Angeles Convention Center on Nov. 28 (local time).

Participants at the motor show became very excited with the unexpected screening of the BTS, a global honorary ambassador of the Palisade. The video showed the seven members of the BTS in the car, suggesting that the new SUV is a big seven-seat family car.

"We created innovative space where all passengers from the driver's seat to the third row can feel comfortable in the Palisade," said Brian Smith, chief operating officer (COO) of Hyundai Motor America who attended the ceremony. "The Palisade will be an ultimate family car."

To this end, Hyundai applied a variety of cutting-edge convenience features that are intuitive and easy to use. First, the model is loaded with a terrain-customized driving mode, which allows the car to run any rugged roads. The SUV model features the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) technology which includes Lane Following Assist (LFA), Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA), Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA), Safe Exit Assist (SEA) and Rear Occupant Alert (ROA).

The Palisade also features an industry-first, innovative new roof vent diffuser design that evenly circulates air from the first to third rows. Its three-zone full auto air conditioner enables drivers to control air conditioning for the second and third rows. The SUV also features active noise control that reduces vehicle interior noises and enhances the convenience of conversations between drivers and passengers. As a flagship SUV, the Palisade was equipped with the electronic four-wheel drive system HTRAC in order to enhance driving pleasure and stability.

"The exterior is tough and grand, and the interior is luxurious and compact like a living room of a mansion," said Lee Sang-yup, the head of the Hyundai Design Center. "Customers can feel serenity and comfort in the Palisades."

"We will complete our SUV lineup by adding new SUVs next year following the Kona, the Tucson, the Santa Fe, and the Palisades among others," COO Smith said. “We will expand our presence in the global automobile market based on the lineup.”
