140 Startups from 20 Countries to Participate

The Seoul Startup Conference & Exhibition 2018 is to be held at the Seoul Startup Hub in Mapo-gu on Oct. 19-20.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on Oct. 17 that it will hold the Seoul Startup Conference & Exhibition 2018 at the Seoul Startup Hub in Mapo-gu on Oct. 19-20.

More than 60 partner organizations and 140 startups from 20 countries participate in this year's event, which is held under the theme of “Technology-based startups in the Asia region: their trends and performance.” .

Anyone interested in starting a business or who has been preparing to start a business can participate.

At the startup showcase, 80 leading technology-based startups in Seoul will operate booths. The Startup Support Center, located at the Seoul Startup Hub, will provide one-stop solutions to companies that need counseling on laws, patents and investment.

In addition, 20 promising technology-based startups in Asia will participate in a tech demo day to attract investments. The three selected companies will be given various benefits, including admission to the Seoul Creative Hub and the opportunity to participate in global programs.

A total of 21 forums, talk concerts, and seminars will be held during the exposition.

At the opening ceremony on Oct. 19, William Bao Bean, a general partner of SOSV, a global venture capital fund, will deliver a keynote speech on Asia and technology startups. About 30 other speakers from home and abroad, including Christoph Heider, president of the European Chamber of Commerce in Korea, will give lectures on AI/deep learning, medicine/biotech, blockchain/FinTech/information security, AR/VR/IoT, market trend/market exploration, and 3-D printing. Anyone can attend the lectures for free.

In addition, the exhibition will offer spaces allowing visitors to experience new technologies and jobs and experience-oriented education programs for Arduino, game coding, and drone manufacturing.
