Platform Offers Rewards to Users

WeShow, a blockchain-based short video platform operator, is to hold its first meetup at JBK Convention Hall in Gangnam at 7 p.m. on Sept. 5.

The meeting is intended to introduce the company’s decentralized short video platform "WeShow" to Korean investors. Speakers at this meeting include Fan Zuwei, the founder of Wecasting and co-founder of Wefound; Wang Tianhai, executive director of the Tencent Incubation Center; Yue Xiang, founder of Imagination Fund; Wei Zane, a co-founder of 8D Capital; and No Jin-woo, CEO of Haxlant..

WeShow is a short video platform that was released to address the shortcomings of single media such as YouTube and Afreeca TV. Existing broadcasting companies failed to properly guarantee the rights of creators due to an insufficient profit distribution system or excessive interference in broadcasting operations.

WeShow aims to avoid these centralized systems and the resulting excessive fees. It is planning to create a decentralized short-video entertainment community platform using blockchain technology and smart contact.

WeShow offers a one-stop solution. You can open an account with no strings attached and enjoy the benefits of the platform immediately through all procedures. It also builds a decentralized ecosystem to eliminate the power of broadcasting operations that the platform can exercise exclusively and to create a transparent and fair profit distribution structure.

It also builds video editing and user-friendly interfaces, allows users to produce short clips, compress and edit video at once, and provide a live broadcast environment anytime, anywhere. Not only creators but all users can get WeToken through various activities such as clicking “like” and writing comments on the WeShow platform.

Although there are many platforms with clear compensation policies for creators, it is difficult to find entertainment platforms that share rewards for activities. In this respect, WeShow’s plan provides a way for content producers and users to coexist.

"With the sudden rise of short video platforms, a wide variety of content is being distributed. However, many users are experiencing inconvenience on the existing platforms due to excessive commission fees and centralized operation of broadcasting," a WeShow official said.

"We decided to introduce blockchain technology to our platform to solve these problems," he added. "We rely on our team members' know-how that have been accumulated through their work experiences at Tencent and Youku."

Meanwhile, this meet-up is attracting attention as it is attended by representatives of the Tencent Incubation Center, 8D Capital, as well as leading partners, investors and exchanges.
