Thinnest Power Cable

LS Cable has unveiled the world's thinnest 500 kV transmission cables and other new products at the CIGRE Exhibition in Paris, France.

500 kV cables are the highest voltage underground cables currently available in the market. LS Cable is able to reduce the diameter of its 500 kV cables more than 5% compared to conventional products, making them easy to produce, transport and install. Making cables thinner while increasing their transmission capacity is a technological yardstick in the cable industry.

LS Cable has acquired a variety of undersea cable technologies ranging from long-haul lines connecting spots in the sea which are hundreds of kilometers deep to products specialized for offshore wind power generation.

A high-voltage, direct current (HVDC) electric power transmission system can transfer electricity from low-cost to high-cost production areas. It is garnering much attention as a core technology of a Northeast Asia super grid which connects the power grids of Korea, Japan, Russia and China.
