Samsung C&T's Construction Business Division announced on August 20 that it has won an 882.6 billion won (US$789.4 million) order for the third phase construction of WestConnex Underpass in Australia.

The project ordered by Sydney Motorway Corporation is to build a 12.9 km-long underground roadway and affiliated buildings from the Haberfield area to the St. Peters area in Sydney. Ground will be broken this month for completion of the project in June 2023.

The project will cost 3,225 million Australian dollars in total and Samsung C&T has secured a 33.33% stake (882.6 billion won) in the project.

"Samsung C&T has already won orders for Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the WestConnex in 2015," said an official of Samsung C&T. "We have won orders worth 2.6 trillion won (US$2.3 billion) from the WestConnex project alone including this order for the third phase."
