Korean Air was honored as the best airline in the world by outclassing other leading airlines.

According to Korean Air on August 8, it was named as the world's best performing airline in 2018 by Air Transport World (ATW), the world's leading airline monthly.

According to ATW's 2018 global airline report published in August, Korean Air earned the highest net profit year on year last year. Korean Air posted net loss of US$550 million in 2016, but net profit of US$855 million last year.

"Korean Air was evaluated as a world-class airline based on qualitative growth rather than simple quantitative growth," a Korean Air official said. “In particular, as airlines around the world competed with one another in a fierce price war, Korean Air sought to maximize profits based on diversified sales and marketing strategies. "

Korean Air's qualitative growth is expected to accelerate with the operation of its joint venture for Pacific routes with Delta Air Lines which began on May 1 of this year. Along with synergies from the joint venture, it was confirmed that Korean Air's flight from Incheon to Boston will begin in April next year.

In addition, Delta Air Lines has been diversifying its Pacific routes as Delta Air Lines will launch a new service from Incheon to Minneapolis in the same month. Synergies are also being generated, including the creation of new transfer demand with fast and unified services thanks to the opening of Incheon International Airport’s Terminal 2.
