Rescue, Relief and Recovery
SK Engineering & Construction (E&C) has pledged to do everything in its power to carry out rescue, relief and recovery activities in relation to the recent dam accident in Laos.
The company’s president Ahn Jae-hyun made the promise in his meeting with Leth Xaiyaphone, governor of Attapeu State in Laos on July 25 (local time).
“We are suffering from severely insufficient relief goods for flood victims,” the governor said in his meeting with Ahn and other SK officials at his residence, according to SK E&C. “We ask you to help by providing medicine, food and clothing.”
"SK E&C will actively support the Laos government's emergency relief activities," Ahn said in response. “We will not only send relief supplies but negotiate with our client (PNPC) in order to provide as many temporary accommodation facilities as possible for victims."
Ahn and the governor visited the site of the dam accident on July 26 and encouraged SK E&C employees and others carrying out relief and recovery activities. SK E&C announced on July 27 that the builder would dispatch an emergency relief support team consisting of 40 employees to the site.
