Samsung Engineering signed a gas plant construction contract worth over 800 billion won (US$770 million) in Malaysia.

The company announced on December 5 that it concluded a contract for the construction of the Terengganu Gas Terminal on December 4 (local time). The project was launched by Petronas Carigali Sdn. Bhd. of Petronas, the state-run oil company of Malaysia, and American petroleum and gas company HESS, which have a 75% and 25% share respectively. The contract amount is US$770 million.

The signing ceremony, which was held in Kuala Lumpur, was attended by Samsung Engineering President Park Joong-heum, Petronas Carigali President Datuk Mohd Anuar Taib, Sauu Kakok, who is in charge of the Asia-Pacific business of HESS, and others.

During the course of the project, gas treatment facilities will be built in the Kerteh Industrial Complex located in Terengganu Province, 260 km northeast of Kuala Lumpur. The facilities remove impurities such as CO2 and H2S from natural gas to produce 700 MMSCFD gas.
