The notebook industry is in a paradigm shift. Ultra-slim and light notebooks, or ultrabooks, have dominated the market so far, but on the horizon, hybrid notebooks, or '2 in 1' PCs, are reportedly coming to replacing them.

“2 in 1” is a form factor proposed by Intel when it launched its fourth-gen Haswell CPU. So far, PC manufacturers have launched products combining an ultrabook with a tablet in various names such as Hybridbook or Convertible Book, but they have now all been termed “2 in 1.”

So far, foreign manufacturers are showing more interest in developing hybrid notebooks than local manufacturers. Sony, Lenovo, and Asus have launched “2 in 1” PCs with Haswell CPU, but Samsung’s and LG’s products are currently based on an older CPU called iBRIDGE.
