A Bridge Spanning Longer Than 2,000 Meters

POSCO, the world's fifth-largest steelmaker by output, announced on May 10 that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Cimtas Steel, the largest steel structure producer in Turkey, in Istanbul, Turkey, to supply 35,000 tons of thick steel plates for the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge project.

With a main span of 2,023 meters, the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge is the world's longest suspension bridge across the Dardenelles Strait in the northwestern province of Çanakkalein Turkey.

A spokesperson of POSCO said, “We have won the order to supply the entire stock of thick steel plates by using broad plates that can reduce the welding work and construction period, and adopting solutions that can weld thick plates at least 100 millimeters thick, which is hard to weld,in addition to transportation and storage solutions that can maintain quality.
