Shake Shack

Cutting the tape at the opening ceremony of the Shake Shack branch in Central City are, from the third on the left, David L. Grossak, US minister counselor for commercial affairs; J.H. Park, president & CEO of Central City of JW Marriott Seoul; Hur Hee-soo, vice president of BR Korea; and Kwon In-tae, chief executive officer of Paris Croissant.

The SPC Group opened the 7th store of premium burger brand Shake Shack in Central City, a high-end lifestyle cultural complex in Banpo, southern Seoul, on April 12.

The branch is located on the first floor of Central City, a complex of commercial buildings accommodating various convenience facilities such as a department store, a hotel, a movie theater and a bookstore. It is also a hub of transportation as it houses an express bus terminal.

The store has a 350-suare-meter space with 130 seats. Its wall and ceiling features an image of connected cities around the world. Taking into consideration the large transient population in Central City, the branch sells Shack Blended Coffee, the second branch to do so following the store in Incheon International Airport.

In addition to such conventional foods as Shack Burger, Shack Steak and Smoke Shack, the Central City branch offers Central Berry Banana, a banana sugar cone with vanilla custard and strawberry puree, as a signature menu.

To celebrate the opening of the 7th branch, the SPC Group organized an event on April 11 to provide support to job-seeking college students, including those who received SPC Happy Scholarship.

SPC Happy Scholarship Program annually gives scholarships (50% of tuitions) to college students who work part-time at stores operated by SPC Group, including Paris Baguette, Baskin Robbins, and Dunkin Donuts.

"The Central City Terminal is a transportation hub used by 15 million passengers annually. We expect these passengers to spread the tastes and hospitality of Shake Shack by word of mouth," a Shake Shack representative said.

Shake Shack is a premium burger brand launched in New York City in 2001 and now operates stores in 13 countries including the UK, Japan and the UAE. In Korea, the SPC Group operates Shake Shack stores under an exclusive agreement with the US company.
