Samsung Heavy Industries announced on April 5 that it won a new contract for two 174,000m3 LNG carriers from a foreign shipping company.

The price of each of the ships scheduled to be delivered in October 2020 is US$184 million. The contract includes an option for two more ships.

The ships to be built have a Mark-III Flex hold equipped with reliquefaction equipment for a lower gas evaporation rate. In addition, the ships come with fuel-saving systems and design optimized for ship operating conditions so that their operation efficiency can be enhanced. They also incorporate selective catalytic reduction (SCR) for nitrogen oxide removal and response to environmental regulations as well as an X-DF dual fuel engine using both natural gas and diesel oil.
