LG CNS announced on March 27 that it has signed an investment agreement for the establishment of a joint venture with Indonesia’s Sinar Mas.

Through this agreement, the two companies will establish a joint venture (JV) in Indonesia. The JV will target Indonesian businesses and public customers, pushing forward with operations such as data center consulting, construction, management, and cloud migration.

Founded in 1938, Sinar Mas is one of Indonesia’s largest conglomerates, operating across seven industry sectors including energy/infrastructure, telecommunications/technology, finance, real estate development, pulp/paper, agriculture/food, and healthcare. Sinar Mas has pinpointed data centers and cloud services as its future growth engines through SM+. In this process, it has partnered with LG CNS, a leader in data center construction and operation as well as cloud business in South Korea.

LG CNS has been involved in the design of the Smart Services Concept for Nusantara, Indonesia’s new administrative capital, since December 2022. This project aims to integrate AI, data, cloud, and digital twin technologies into smart services for Nusantara. Prior to this, LG CNS won the contract for the Indonesian National Tax Administration System (CTAS) construction project in 2020, and successfully executed the Jakarta metropolitan area light rail facility project in 2019.

LG CNS CEO Hyun Shin-gyun emphasized, “Based on LG CNS’s DX technology capabilities, we will expand the scope of our DX business in Indonesia through strategic cooperation with Sinar Mas.”
