Samsung Display has secured the top spot in the foldable Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) panel market, outpacing China’s rapid pursuit.

According to market research firm UBI Research on March 26, global shipments of foldable OLED panels are projected to increase from 27.4 million units this year to 57.2 million units by 2028.

Samsung Display led the market with the highest shipment volume, dispatching 13.4 million units of foldable phone OLED panels last year, a 6.3% increase from the previous year’s 12.6 million units.

The chase by Chinese panel manufacturers continues. BOE, China’s largest display company, shipped 6.2 million units of foldable phone OLEDs last year, more than tripling from the previous year’s 1.9 million units. TCL’s display subsidiary, China Star Optoelectronics Technology (CSOT), and Visionox shipped 1.1 million units each last year.
