The Korea National Railway announced that it has successfully hosted the “Korea-Vietnam High-speed Railway Technology Exchange” on March 19, with the visit of the Vietnam Ministry of Transport Technical Survey Team to its Daejeon headquarters.

The Korea-Vietnam High-Speed Railway Technology Exchange was held in response to a request from Nguyen Danh Huy, deputy minister of the Vietnam Ministry of Transport, who visited South Korea in October last year, with the aim of examining advanced cases for the construction of the North-South (Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh) high-speed railway in Vietnam.

The Vietnam Ministry of Transport Technical Survey Team visited the Korea National Railway, comprising 21 officials led by Tran Thien Cahn, the director of the Railway Department of the Vietnam Ministry of Transport.

The Korea National Railway showcased South Korea’s high-speed railway technology and exemplary cases of railway station area development (TOD), introducing the Greater Train eXpress (GTX) and railway underground projects, among others.

Lee Seong-hae, chairman of the Korea National Railway, stated, “South Korea is ready to form Team Korea to ensure the success of the North-South high-speed railway project in Vietnam, providing advanced technology and experiences in the high-speed railway sector,” and added, “We will continue to make efforts to help Korean railway companies expand into the Vietnamese high-speed railway project.”
