The police have launched a forced investigation into Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) following the detection of an attempt by Indonesian employees dispatched to KAI to leak documents related to the Korean fighter jet KF-21.

This action comes 24 days after a government joint investigation team, consisting of the Defense Acquisition Program Administration, the Military Counterintelligence Command, and the National Intelligence Service, requested investigative assistance from the National Police Agency’s National Investigation Headquarters on Feb. 21 regarding Indonesian technicians Mr. A and Mr. B.

On March 15, the South Gyeongsang Provincial Police Agency’s Security Investigation Division dispatched about ten investigators to KAI in Sacheon, South Gyeongsang Province, to secure related materials from the work computers of Mr. A and Mr. B.

Previously, while working at the KAI headquarters in Sacheon, Mr. A and Mr. B were caught attempting to leak data related to the development of the KF-21 and other documents stored on a USB drive on Jan. 17. Mr. A is known to be at a team leader level.
