LS Cable has decided to establish an optical fiber production line in Poland.

According to the cable industry on March 27, LS EV Poland, the Polish corporation of LS Cable has is building a fiber-optic cable production line with investment of 10 billion won (US$9 million). LS Cable decided to start tentative production in January next year after finishing the construction of the plant by December this year. The plant will begin to mass produce products in the first half of next year.

LS EV Poland was established at the end of last year by purchasing a new factory covering an area of 26,450 square meters in the Dzierżoniów Special Economic Zone. The facility has a floor space of 9,920 square meters. Originally LS EV Poland was built to produce automotive battery parts.

"We will start supplying parts to a nearby LG Chem plant in Wrocław and expand parts supply to European car makers," LS Cable said at that time. “We are also considering expanding investment in optical cables and power cables."

LS Cable decided to build an additional fiber-optic cable production line as demand for telecom infrastructure in Europe, including the 5G telecommunication networks was on the rise. The decision itself was made at the end of last year. Construction work including facility ordering is in full swing.
