Analysts have reported that LG Display is set to supply between 700,000 to 800,000 white OLED (WOLED) panels to Samsung Electronics.

At the Korea Display Conference held on March 13 at Seoul’s EL Tower, Jeong Yoon-seong, executive director of Omdia Korea, stated, “It is believed that LG Display and Samsung Electronics have entered into a long-term supply agreement. The initial supply volume for this year is expected to be between 700,000 to 800,000 units.”

Samsung Electronics has a lineup of OLED TVs that includes 55-inch, 65-inch, 77-inch, and 83-inch models. LG Display plans to supply OLED panels for all of Samsung Electronics’ products, including 42-inch, 48-inch, 55-inch, and 77-inch models.

Executive Director Jeong analyzed that the total shipment of OLED panels for TVs will be 1.4 million units from Samsung Display and 6 million units from LG Display. Out of LG Display’s 6 million units, between 3.5 million to 4 million units are expected to be supplied to LG Electronics. Samsung Display is projected to supply 1.1 million units to Samsung Electronics.

The shipment of OLED panels for monitors is expected to significantly increase this year compared to last year. Samsung Display is forecast to ship 1.38 million units and LG Display 450,000 units, marking increases of 155.6% and 58.5%, respectively.

Growth is also anticipated in the OLED panels for the tablet market this year. Executive Director Jeong remarked, “850,000 OLED panels will be used in Apple’s iPad Pro, with LG Display supplying half of the total volume and Samsung Display providing around 3.5 million units.”
