Doosan Enerbility is participating in Saudi Arabia's largest combined cycle power plant project.

The company announced on March 11 that it has signed a contract with SEPCO-3 to supply equipment for the Taiba 1 Integrated Cycle Power Plant and Qasim 1 Combined Cycle Power Plant in Saudi Arabia. With the latest agreement, Doosan Enerbility will supply one 650 MW-class steam turbine and one generator each to the Taiba 1 Integrated Cycle Power Plant and Qasim 1 Combined Cycle Power Plant. The contract is valued at approximately 150 billion won (US$114.16 million).

The Taiba 1 Integrated Cycle Power Plant and Qasim 1 Combined Cycle Power Plant are located approximately 200 kilometers north of Jeddah and about 200 kilometers northwest of Riyadh, respectively. Both power plants will have a capacity of 1,800 MW and will be completed by 2027. The developer for the project is a consortium consisting of ACWA Power and the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC). SEPCO-3, which has signed the supply contract with Doosan Enerbility, is participating in the project as engineering, procurement and construction (EPC).

Sohn Seung-woo, the Power Service Business Group manager at Doosan Enerbility, stated, “We are expanding our orders not only in the domestic market but also in overseas gas power generation markets, including Saudi Arabia and other Middle Eastern and Asian countries. In particular, we will strengthen our market penetration efforts as more than 15 GW of combined cycle power plants are expected to be ordered in Saudi Arabia over the next five years.”

Doosan Enerbility is supplying key equipment such as gas turbines, steam turbines, and generators to numerous gas power generation projects both domestically and internationally. In South Korea, the company has recently signed contracts to supply key equipment to Andong Combined Cycle Power Plant, Gongju Combined Cycle Power Plant, and Goseong Combined Cycle Power Plant, and overseas to Fujairah F3 in the UAE and Syrdaria 2 in Uzbekistan.
