Four Seasons Hotel Seoul ushers in a new era of excellence with the appointment of Michael Schmid as General Manager.

A pioneering multi-lingual hospitality veteran and strategic visionary, Michael is a felicitous new addition to the dynamic creativity and high-care curation of Four Seasons hospitality hub in Seoul’s geographic heart.

Schmid gained his hospitality wings from the prestigious Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne in his native Switzerland before carving out an extraordinary resume in some of the world’s foremost luxury hotels. From North America to Spain, Russia, England and Brazil, he has gained hands-on and strategic experience across food and beverage, rooms operations, project management and brand-building.

Schmid’s journey with Four Seasons began in 2000 as Restaurants, Catering and Banquets Manager at the former Four Seasons Hotel Berlin. From Germany, he moved stateside to Four Seasons Hotel Chicago as Food and Beverage Department Head Tournant, returning to the Four Seasons fold in 2017 as opening General Manager of the former Four Seasons Sao Paolo, Brazil.

Swapping the spirited populous surrounds of Brazil’s largest municipality for the vibrant multicultural buzz of Seoul, Schmid’s latest role sees him bring his unique blend of dedicated leadership and operational vision to the Korean capital. His energetic and engaged management style are the perfect match for Four Seasons contemporary Gwanghwamun urban oasis, where rich historic traditions meet cutting-edge creativity and technology.

Beyond his extensive experience Schmid is first and foremost a people person; a naturally warm and leader whose engaging communication skills – fuelled by his multi-lingual fluency – help him create unforgettable experiences imbued with care and integrity.
