LG Group Chairman Koo Kwang-mo was ranked 10th on the list of influential people in the global automotive industry by a leading U.S. automotive publication this year. Motor Trend, a leading U.S. automotive publication, announced its Global Automotive Industry Power List on March 5 (local time).

Koo took 10th place among 50 people on the list. He was recognized for his influence in the automotive industry through his management of major subsidiaries such as LG Chem, LG Energy Solution, and LG Electronics.

Koo has focused on fostering the electric vehicle battery business as a new growth driver. Based on this, he has expanded its presence in the global automotive industry by providing batteries and key components, leading the adoption of EVs, artificial intelligence, advanced robotics, software and the latest infotainment systems, many industry observers say.

In addition to Koo, Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Chung Eui-sun was placed fifth among Korean business leaders. While Chung’s ranking is down from 2023, his presence remains strong in the industry.

Koo was named as Motor Trend’s Person of the Year in 2023 as he was considered a leader in the global mobility industry including automobiles, robotics, artificial intelligence and e-VTOL. Therefore, he took a high position following last year.
