KEPCO announced that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on promoting technology exchanges with Danish state-owned transmission company Energinet at the auditorium of Federation of Korean Industries (FKI) Tower in Yeouido, Seoul on March 6.

Energinet is currently building transmission networks and initial environmental impact assessment for offshore wind projects in Denmark. It has partnered with many overseas organizations based on its rich experience in projects related to grid connection and the integration of renewable energy.

The MOU was signed to commemorate the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Korea and Denmark and to strengthen energy cooperation between the two countries.

Through the MOU, KEPCO will exchange its experience in large-scale offshore wind power connection and power facility design, HVDC operation technology, and surplus power energy storage and conversion technology in Denmark, a country with a high proportion of renewable energy. Energinet will exchange its digitalization and preventive diagnosis technology for KEPCO’s substation facilities to build a foundation for cooperation.

“Our company’s technology in grid operation and planning will be combined with Energinet’s capability to carry out renewable energy grid connection projects to lead the way in the diffusion of stable renewable energy in the era of an energy transition,” said Seo Cheol-soo, head of KEPCO’s Power System Division.
