Miky Lee, vice chairwoman of CJ Group, has been recognized as a visionary influencing Hollywood in the United States.

According to CJ ENM on March 5, Vice Chairwoman Lee was featured in the special edition “2024 Hollywood Issue” of the prestigious American entertainment magazine Vanity Fair.

Since 1995, Vanity Fair has published its annual Hollywood Issue highlighting the year’s top creators, including actors and directors, to shine a spotlight on the best in the industry. This year’s special edition, marking the 30th anniversary of its publication, selected individuals who are leading and transforming the future of Hollywood.

Vanity Fair referred to Lee as the “godmother,” stating, “From Parasite to Snowpiercer, Vice Chairwoman Lee has been Hollywood’s secret weapon of the Korean Wave, aiming to create cultural connections for a richer and more diverse world.”

The magazine also highlighted her role this year as the executive producer of the beautiful film Fast Lives by director Celine Song, which was nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards.

Lee has served as the executive producer for various films, including Parasite, Decision to Leave, Broker, and Fast Lives. She also works to enhance the sustainability of Korean content by collaborating with Hollywood, the arts and culture sector, and the education sector, supporting creators and engaging in various activities to elevate the global stature of Korean culture.

For her efforts in leading the global spread of the Korean Wave and contributing to the development of the entertainment industry, Lee has received numerous awards, including the Order of Cultural Merit, the International Emmy Directorate Award, and the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures Pillar Award.

Following her unprecedented selection for three consecutive years as the first Asian in the Power 100 Women in Entertainment by The Hollywood Reporter in December last year, she was also named in Variety’s Variety 500, an index of the 500 most influential leaders in the global media industry, for the fourth consecutive year. In 2022, she was also chosen as one of the BBC’s 100 Women of the Year.
