LG Uplus announced an agreement to strengthen collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to maximize the utilization of AI. Hwang Hyeon-sik, the CEO of LG Uplus, and Kathrin Renz, AWS Vice President of Industry, met in Barcelona, Spain, during MWC2024 on Feb. 27 to sign an agreement. This collaboration focuses on delivering a differentiated customer experience by leveraging AWS’s latest developments in generative AI, such as Amazon Bedrock, which offers a fully managed service providing various high-performance foundation models (FM) from leading AI companies through a single API. The agreement also includes enhancing the security of cloud platform services and IT modernization, a core area of telecommunications.

LG Uplus is driving a companywide initiative for customer experience innovation (CX) and digital transformation (DX) to transition into a platform company through the digitalization of telecommunications. The collaboration with AWS is expected to accelerate this transformation. Moreover, LG Uplus anticipates significantly improving the customer experience provided through its upgraded next-generation integrated computing network, Ucube, last year.

Additionally, both companies plan to collaborate on various customer experience innovations, enhancing cloud security levels, and exploring cases utilizing the latest AI technologies. Through this collaboration, LG Uplus aims to spread AWS’s latest design capabilities beyond IT infrastructure to all business areas of the company.
