Naver and Samsung C&T are joining forces to expand their future business ecosystems by leveraging each other’s capabilities. On Feb. 28, Naver Cloud and Naver Labs, along with the Construction Division of Samsung C&T, announced that they have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at the Naver 1784 building for collaboration on home and building solutions and the development of innovative ICT technologies in both Korea and Saudi Arabia.

This MOU signifies a broad cooperation between Team Naver and Samsung C&T, focusing on the digitization of spaces such as future technology-based offices, expansion into the global market with advanced smart cities, and enhancing the competitiveness of the construction industry through the use of ICT. Samsung C&T plans to integrate a variety of advanced technologies such as AI, cloud, autonomous driving, robotics, and 5G, which were used in the construction of the “tech convergence building” Naver 1784, with its home and building platform to increase synergy. The two companies aim to continue their collaboration from implementing future office buildings to next-generation platform businesses targeting B2B customers and further materialize this collaboration to create opportunities for global business expansion.

Particularly, with Team Naver having won the contract for a digital twin construction project in Saudi Arabia, the collaboration with Samsung C&T is expected to further expand business in the region. Samsung C&T is actively continuing its projects in Saudi Arabia, including the Riyadh Metro and Neom Tunnel, and has accumulated a wealth of project experience and infrastructure capabilities both domestically and internationally. The two companies have a blueprint for synergizing while bidding for, constructing, and operating projects such as data centers, airports, shopping malls, and smart cities in Saudi Arabia, where they are strategically focusing on market expansion.

In addition, both companies are combining their capabilities to apply AI, robotics, autonomous driving, and XR to their operations, aiming for differentiation and innovation in productivity and competitiveness in the construction business through the integration of advanced ICT.

Jo Hye-jeong, head of the DxP Business Division at Samsung C&T, emphasized, “At a time when we are expanding our portfolio into new businesses beyond construction, this agreement with Naver, which possesses the country’s top technology, will accelerate our entry into future new markets.”

Han Sang-young, head of the Global DX & Innovation Division at Naver Cloud, stated, “Through this agreement with Samsung C&T, we will lay the foundation for expansion of our business in Saudi and diversify Team Naver’s technology capabilities, contributing to the digital transformation of various spaces including buildings, homes, and smart cities.”
