Hyundai Engineering announced on Feb. 21 that its landscape structures “Weaving Garden” and “Cloud Shade” won the Winner award at Asia Design Prize 2024.

The Asia Design Prize is the largest international design competition in Asia. This year, Professor Shingo Ando from the prestigious Kyoto University of the Arts served as the chairman of the judging panel, with the participation of 35 global design experts in the judging process.

This year, a total of 1,601 entries from 25 countries worldwide were submitted for the competition. Among them, 248 winning works were selected across three categories: industry and space, and architecture and communication.

The Weaving Garden in Hyundai Engineering’s “HillState Mojong Neoluce” apartment is a themed garden installed at the center of the complex, serving as a space that connects the daily lives of residents with nature. It creates a pleasant and mysterious atmosphere through mist sprays while also providing effects such as reducing fine dust and temperature control.

The Weaving Garden received praise from the judging panel for integrating natural elements and environmental improvement solutions into residential spaces, providing both aesthetic beauty and responses to climate change.

The Cloud Shade is a specialized structure by Hyundai Engineering, consisting of cloud-shaped pergola that provides shade from the sun. Unlike other facilities that completely block sunlight, it utilizes perforated panels to allow appropriate sunlight to pass through, offering users an organic outdoor experience and enabling interaction with nature in three dimensions.
