SK telecom and KT have announced their plans to showcase advanced technologies based on artificial intelligence (AI) at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024, which opens on Feb. 26 in Barcelona, Spain. SKT is set to occupy a large exhibition space of 992 square meters in the Fira Gran Via Hall 3, under the theme “The Beginning of New Changes, the Inflection Point of AI,” focusing on AI technologies centered around telecommunications.

The company will display a variety of technologies, including a chatbot-powered virtual agent, an AI-based spam and smishing filtering system, an AI Call Center (AICC), Litmus Plus (an AI-based system for indoor and outdoor population data analysis), and enhancements to AI quantum camera functionalities applicable in robotics, security, and healthcare. Additionally, the exhibition will feature the Excalibur pet AI diagnostic aid service, the AI Media Studio for media processing and content quality improvement, and the Intelligence Vision bio microscope using vision AI.

SKT will also reveal AI data center technologies including liquid cooling, AI-based network infrastructure technologies, and a life-sized Urban Air Mobility (UAM) experience that allows for virtual interaction.

KT, under the theme “Digital Innovation Partner KT Creating the Future,” will organize its exhibition space into two theme zones: Next 5G and AI Life. They plan to introduce next-generation network technologies and AI innovation technologies. The Next 5G zone will feature an UAM experience space that incorporates next-generation network technologies and an intelligent traffic management system that uses AI for safe UAM transportation management.

Technologies on display will include an Open Network API that allows customers easy access to the global operator network and provides network resources, an Engineering Platform offering analysis simulation solutions in a cloud High-Performance Computing (HPC) environment, and quantum cryptography technologies for hacking prevention.

The AI Life Zone will showcase various applications of large-scale AI, including the Generative AI Alliance corner, which will display AI semiconductor applications of LLM, and examples of Sovereign AI, a cooperative model of large-scale AI aiming for national data sovereignty independent of big tech companies.

Visitors can also experience on-device technology applied to shared scooters, electric vehicle chargers, and smart signage in the On-device AIoT corner, and the Geniverse in School corner, which allows learning road names in a Metaverse space.

LG Uplus, opting not to have its own exhibition space, has formed a delegation to the event that includes CEO Hwang Hyun-sik, Consumer Division Head Jung Su-hun, NW Division Head Kwon Jun-hyuk, Corporate Division Head Kwon Yong-hyun, Chief Data Officer Hwang Kyu-byul, and Chief Technology Officer Lee Sang-yup.
