Secures Foothold for Entry into Civilian Aviation Sector

Butechnology's successful patent application and registration for aircraft maintenance have raised expectations for its entry into the civilian aviation maintenance sector.

On the 14th, KOSDAQ-listed company Butechnology (CEO Jin Yeop Lee) announced that it has obtained a patent for augmented reality (AR)-based aircraft maintenance technology

The patent, based on Butechnology's 'Augmented Reality (AR) based 5G (5th generation communication) aircraft maintenance system,' is utilized for aircraft maintenance and operations.

If airlines adopt this technology, it enables the introduction of an 'Augmented Reality (AR) maintenance technician training system' without time and space constraints, allowing multiple technicians to receive cooperative maintenance training simultaneously.

Additionally, by providing evidence-based 'service scenarios,' it is possible to develop AR maintenance operation plans for target aircraft models.

In particular, technologies including recognition and tracking of physical equipment for maintenance, collaborative functionalities, etc., are incorporated to swiftly adapt to various maintenance environments. This integration with Aircraft Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) electronic technical manuals is revolutionary.

Butechnology's stance is to expand its 'AR aircraft maintenance' development business from the military sector, where it has been focused, to both domestic and international civilian aviation sectors, starting from this patent application.

Furthermore, the company has set plans to develop tailored AR maintenance services for domestic and global airlines using this patent, and to expand its business through various methods such as sales, subscriptions, and licensing.

A company spokesperson stated, “This patent application will serve as a stepping stone for butechnology to expand its aircraft maintenance business from the military sector to the civilian sector,” adding, “We are actively engaging in discussions with domestic and international airlines regarding the adoption of AR aircraft maintenance.”

Furthermore, a company spokesperson added, “We are also considering pursuing a business model of tokenizing patent rights as NFTs,” stating, “We anticipate that the digital assetization of patents will not only enhance their technological value but also increase their marketability.”

Meanwhile, Butechnology has recently proven its strength in the field of aircraft maintenance training by securing contracts worth approximately 4.2 billion KRW over the past month, including contracts for maintenance training simulators and equipment.
