The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport (MOLIT) announced that a voluntary recall will start for about 40,000 vehicles from Hyundai Motor Company, Mercedes-Benz Korea, BMW Korea, Honda Korea, and Man Truck Bus Korea for manufacturing defects.

According to MOLIT on Feb. 8, 18,664 Hyundai Kona SX2 units will be recalled beginning Feb. 15 due to a design error in their battery connection wiring protection materials. Similarly, a defect in the curtain airbag inflator will bring 246 NEXO units to a recall beginning from Feb. 14 due to a defect in their curtain airbag inflator.

A lack of durability of the impellers in fuel pumps initiated a recall of 12,521 units of 22 car models including the Mercedes-Benz E350 4MATIC on Feb. 8. The insufficient durability of fixing bolts of variable valve timing systems has made 88,826 vehicles of 19 car models, including the BMW 528i, qualify for corrective action since Feb. 2.

Moreover, 2,080 Honda CR-V Hybrid units will be recalled beginning from Feb. 8 due to a design error in their battery cables. A recall of 1,944 units of four models of Man Truck TGM Cargo began on Feb. 7 due to defective assemblies of their fuel filter heater circuit boards.
