On Feb. 7, KB Financial Group was selected as the only domestic financial institution to achieve the highest rating, “Top 1%,” in the “2023 Corporate Sustainability Assessment” announced by U.S.-based Standard & Poor’s Global (S&P Global).

The highest rating of “Top 1%” in the “2023 Corporate Sustainability Assessment” was achieved by only 66 out of approximately 9,400 companies worldwide. In the banking industry sector, KB Financial Group obtained the highest score of 86 points, earning its selection as “Top 1%.”

With this achievement, KB Financial Group has been recognized as having the highest level of ESG management capabilities by the most prestigious ESG evaluation institutions both domestically and internationally. Last year, it obtained the highest AAA rating in the “Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSC) ESG Ratings” and became the first financial institution in South Korea to receive an A+ rating in all ESG categories for four consecutive years in the ESG evaluation by the Korea Corporate Governance Service (KCGS), the most authoritative ESG evaluation institution in South Korea. This year, it has been selected as “Top 1%” in the “S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment.”

KB Financial Group received favorable evaluations from domestic and international ESG evaluation institutions because all its subsidiaries, including KB Kookmin Bank, focused on practicing ESG management. They achieved excellent results in all ESG areas, including implementing strategies to address climate change, expanding financial products and services for creating social value, and establishing exemplary ESG management systems.

A KB Financial Group official stated, “We are pleased to receive recognition for the ongoing efforts of all members of the KB Financial Group in implementing ESG management. In the future, we will continue to lead social responsibility activities befitting a leading global ESG management company and strive to create a future where we grow together with the nation.”
