Kim Joo-sun, president of SK hynix, who is in charge of the newly established artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure, announced on Feb. 7, “We will continue to ensure that no one doubts the proposition ‘AI memory equals SK hynix’ by enhancing communication and partnership to maximize the value of our products.”

In an interview with the SK hynix Newsroom on the same day, President Kim stated, “In an environment where the market is rapidly changing towards AI, working as we used to will accomplish nothing. We need to be flexible in making changes, understanding, and supporting customer needs.”

The AI infrastructure consists of the Global Sales and Marketing (GSM), responsible for global business; the HBM Business, which consolidates company-wide HBM capabilities; and Market Strategy Research (MSR), which explores future products and markets following HBM. It is considered a key organization for maintaining and expanding SK hynix’s leadership in the AI era.

President Kim emphasized that SK hynix has established its position in the AI memory market by actively responding to the demand for HBM. He noted, “Previously, market predictions were sporadically conducted by various departments such as development, manufacturing, purchasing, sales, and marketing, leading to low prediction accuracy. By establishing a one-team system and efficiently executing company-wide resources, we have enhanced our ability to quickly respond to market changes and operational issues, avoiding repetition of the same patterns.”

He was the first to suggest a direction for innovation, advocating for discarding what is unnecessary and focusing intensely on what needs concentration to create value. “In an environment where the market is rapidly changing towards AI, working as we used to will accomplish nothing. We need to be flexible in making changes and understand and support customer needs,” he emphasized, adding, “I also hope that our members will boldly reduce unnecessary work and always pursue innovation with new ideas.”

President Kim has set the goal of becoming the “Global Number One” AI memory provider this year. Regarding the implementation of this goal, he mentioned, “In the short term, we plan to maximize market dominance based on our overwhelming technological and quality superiority, communicate with growing customers in the market, identify and solve their pain points, and lead the market by proposing the next generation of memory solutions, ensuring our technology and products become the standard in the market.”
