Hyosung Group Chairman Cho Hyun-joon has been named as the chairman of the Korea-Japan Exchange Committee.
The Korea International Trade Association (KITA) held the Inauguration Ceremony and First Meeting of the Korea-Japan Exchange Committee at the Grand Intercontinental Hotel in the Samseong neighborhood of Seoul on Feb. 7.
The meeting was attended by 15 people including KITA Chairman Koo Ja-yul, Hyosung Group Chairman Cho Hyun-joon, Dongwon Group Vice Chairman Kim Nam-jung, Infac Korea CEO Lee Seung-hyun, and representative board members and startups. Hyosung Group Chairman Cho Hyun-joon was elected as chairman of the Korea-Japan Exchange Committee.
The Korea-Japan Exchange Committee was established to lead private economic cooperation and industrial exchanges in response to an improvement in relations between Japan and Korea. The committee will discuss cooperation measures to rev up trade between Japan and Korea and deliberate on KITA’s major projects related to Japan.
What is more, the committee will serve as a platform for exchanges between Korean and Japanese companies by establishing communication and cooperation channels with the Japan-Korea Exchange Committee under the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
“Japan is our competitor in terms of industry but it is also a partner with which Korea can create greater synergies,” Koo Ja-yul, chairman of the KITA said in an opening address. He emphasized that the Korea-Japan Exchange Committee should serve as a bridge between the two countries’ companies.
The KITA will play a pivotal role in strengthening private economic cooperation between Japan and Korea by promoting timely private exchange projects utilizing its network and experience.
