CJ Logistics announced on Jan. 31 that it has entered into a strategic partnership for logistics cooperation with Saigon Co.op, a Vietnamese state-owned retail chain giant.

Through this partnership, both companies plan to establish a joint task force to collaboratively operate a new logistics center under construction in the western region of Ho Chi Minh City. Additionally, they aim to build a sustained cooperative relationship for exploring joint business opportunities.

The MOU signing ceremony took place on the morning of Jan. 30 (local time) at the Saigon Co.op headquarters in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Key personnel from both sides, including Chang Bok-sang, the CEO of CJ’s Vietnam regional headquarters; Kim Kwon-woong, the head of the CJ Logistics Asia Pacific unit; and Nguyen Anh Duc, the CEO of Saigon Co.op attended the event.

Founded in 1989, Saigon Co.op has been responsible for warehouse operations and transportation through its logistics subsidiary. However, with recent efforts to expand offline stores and e-commerce business, there is significant anticipation for enhanced logistics efficiency through the utilization of CJ Logistics’ TES-based advanced technology and advanced operational expertise.

In line with this, CJ Logistics plans to accelerate the implementation of automation facilities within the new logistics center in Ho Chi Minh City, scheduled to operate this year, by forming a task force that includes specialized personnel in advanced logistics technology research and development.

CJ Logistics has been accumulating operational expertise across various consumer goods industries such as food, fashion, and beauty within the domestic market. Through meticulous analysis of regional and day-specific data, the company has developed the expertise to enhance prediction accuracy for future order quantities. This expertise enables CJ Logistics to efficiently handle the daily irregular orders that occur at nationwide stores.

Kim Kwon-woong, head of the CJ Logistics Asia Pacific unit, stated, “Through our experience in distribution logistics across various product categories and the application of automation technology, we aim to strengthen cooperation with Saigon Co.op by improving its logistics efficiency and stability.”
