Hanjin announced on Jan. 26 that it will expand its overseas bases to a total of 42 this year to foster its global business.

This year, Hanjin will establish 17 subsidiaries and a total of 42 bases in 22 countries including Thailand, Bangladesh, Morocco, and Hungary to build a logistics network connecting Asia and Europe.

In recent years, Hanjin has been actively expanding its overseas bases. The company’s overseas network grew from 12 countries, 12 subsidiaries, and 28 bases in 2022 to 18 countries, 14 subsidiaries, and 34 bases in 2023.

On Dec. 5 last year, Hanjin established a new subsidiary in Japan and will complete the establishment of a subsidiary in Thailand in March. This will enable the company to promote e-commerce, international express delivery, and Southeast Asian transportation businesses.

Hanjin’s Japanese subsidiary will focus on e-commerce customs clearance and express services and forwarding consumer goods in cooperation with Sagawa, a leading local logistics company in Japan.

The Thai subsidiary will complete a chain of logistics circles centered on the Indochina Peninsula including Myanmar, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam.

Hanjin entered Thailand in June last year with the opening of Container Freight Station (CFS) at Ramchabang Port of Thailand and border transportation business is expected to be carried out in connection with these bases.
