LIG Nex1 is set to participate in the “UMEX 2024” exhibition, focused on robotics and unmanned technologies, beingheld in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates, from Jan. 23 for a duration of three days.

The company will showcase locally optimized robot and unmanned systems at the UMEX 2024 exhibition, featuring Hyundai Rotem’s Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV) equipped with anti-tank guided missiles and 2.75-inch guided rockets, unmanned surface vehicles, and compact reconnaissance-strike hybrid drones.

LIG Nex1 has strategically targeted the Middle East as a key market and has been participating in defense exhibitions in the region, including the UAE and Saudi Arabia, since 2009. Particularly at this exhibition, the focus is on showcasing distinctive defense R&D capabilities to local military officials with an emphasis on the rapidly expanding future defense market. The strategic objective is to promote exports and expand technological cooperation.

LIG Nex1 continues to advance research and development and make investment to lead future fields such as integrated manned and unmanned systems, building on the technological expertise accumulated through advanced weapon system development projects and strategic collaborations with the military, industry, academia, and research institutions.

Within this domain, LIG Nex1 has designated unmanned surface vehicles as a core solution for modern warfare. The unveiled unmanned surface vessel “Haegum-3” by LIG Nex1 is equipped not only with a 12.7 mm heavy machine gun at the front but also with a launcher for 2.75-inch guided rockets. Moreover, it has successfully completed real sea seakeeping performance tests under challenging sea state 4 conditions with a maximum wave height of 2.5 meters, demonstrating its ability to operate for 24 hours without human intervention even in demanding maritime environments.

President Shin Ik-hyun of LIG Nex1 mentioned, “New solutions, including integrated manned and unmanned systems, are rapidly transforming the landscape of modern warfare and national defense R&D. We hope that this exhibition will lead to securing a leading position in the global market, particularly in the fast-growing future defense sector with increasing demand.”
