Hanwha Life Insurance President Kim Dong-won attended the Davos Forum held in Switzerland from Jan. 15 to 19.

Visiting Davos for the second consecutive year, President Kim Dong-won conducted over 10 business meetings during the event. He focused on determining the direction of Hanwha Life Insurance’s global strategy and exploring ways to expand into the Asian market.

On Jan. 17, President Kim Dong-won solidified relations through a meeting with John Riady, the CEO of the 6th-ranked Indonesian conglomerate, Lippo Group. The two, who first met at the Davos Forum in 2016, have been maintaining a friendly cooperative relationship since concluding the acquisition of Lippo General Insurance, the Indonesian subsidiary of Hanwha Life Insurance, in March of last year.

In the meeting with John Riady, President Kim Dong-won and Hanwha Life Insurance Vice Chairman and CEO Yeo Seung-joo engaged in detailed discussions about the outlook for the insurance industry in Indonesia and future collaboration plans. Based on Indonesia’s position as a key market for next-generation electric vehicles, they explored the potential for collaboration in discovering future opportunities in the insurance sector.

In addition, President Kim Dong-won met with David Rubenstein, the chairman of Carlyle, the world’s largest private investment firm, and Harvey Schwartz, the CEO. They discussed global economic perspectives, the outlook for the private equity market, and promising investment areas. Through these discussions, they focused on identifying opportunities and strategic directions for investment in the overseas investment market in the future.

Furthermore, on Jan. 18, Vice Chairman Yeo Seung-joo met with James Landay, the vice director of the Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence Institute (HAI) at Stanford University in the United States. They discussed the outlook and potential applications of the generative AI era.
